Today, the following projects and experimental sites simulating life on Mars are already successfully operating and developing around the world:

🔹 "Mars-500" (Russia) is a legendary experiment with six participants that lasted 520 days and cost $15 million. The project was an important step in studying human psychology and physiology under conditions of prolonged isolation. But this was a one-time experiment, not a fully developed base for further development!

🔹 HI-SEAS (Hawaii, USA) is a series of NASA experiments where volunteers lived in a dome on the slope of the Mauna Loa volcano. The project attracted the attention of millions and helped collect data on life in conditions similar to Mars.

🔹 Mars Base 1 (China) is an educational and tourist complex in the Gobi Desert, already welcoming visitors and training future colonists. The base is designed to accommodate 160 people and is actively developing as a scientific platform.

And here are some projects that haven't been built yet, but have already made a name for themselves: 👇

🔹 Mars Scientific City (UAE) is an ambitious $136 million project where an entire city is being built to simulate life on Mars. It will include living modules, laboratories, and even farms for growing food.

🔹 MARS-V (Mongolia) is a new tourist camp in the Gobi Desert, where starting in 2029, you can spend a month in conditions as close to Mars as possible. Participation costs approximately $6,000.

Our first pilot project, the Mars Observatory Base, includes three personnel modules, technical facilities, and utility blocks designed to service the Mars base and its guest colonists.

The technical facility will house the base's main utilities: the heating and water supply system, an electrical control room, and independent power generators.

The utility block will house a laundry, storage rooms, and a maintenance workshop.
The personnel modules are intended for the base's staff to live and rest. They will be equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay.

When designing these modules, we strived to visually resemble a real, fully developed Mars base, with its technical facilities and utility blocks, and to distinguish them from the residential shuttles intended for our guests.

Selecting a Central Pavilion Concept

Description of Design Options

1️⃣ Design 1: A group of geodesic domes with connecting corridors

Concept: Geodesic domes are located separately from each other and connected by corridors.

Advantages:

- A common and proven solution that can be ordered from external manufacturers.
- Quick production.

Disadvantages:

- High cost, especially when equipped with utility infrastructure.
- Takes up a significant amount of usable space on the site.
- Separate corridors increase heat loss. Cost: Less expensive than options 2 and 3.

Option 2: Modernized Geodomes

Concept: Geodomes are connected more organically, without traditional corridors.

Advantages:

- Visually harmonious solution.
- Less heat loss and more compact placement while maintaining functionality.

Disadvantages:

- Requires a custom solution for connecting the domes.
- Increased cost of construction due to non-standard connections.

Cost: Comparable to Option 3 (includes manufacturer's profit), but material consumption is similar to Option 3.

Option 3: Fully custom solution

Concept: Unique design, modularity, and versatility allow the solution to be adapted to any task.

Advantages:

- Potential for future projects (e.g., a Mars base).
- Long-term payback with repeated use.

Disadvantages:

- Lengthy design process and potential for initial errors.
- Increased cost with a single use.

Science Citizen Glamp CEO Artem Leonov met with the team at Astrosib, a leading Russian developer of equipment for astronomical observatories. Their technologies are already used at most professional observatories in Russia and are available internationally.

The goal of the meeting was to discuss the joint implementation of an observatory as part of the "First Mars Base" project, which combines popular science tourism, education, and interest in space.
